Ultrastructure of Single Cells, Callus-like and Monosore-like Cells in Porphyra yezoensis Ueda on Semi solid Culture Med

IthadbeendemonstratedthatindividualcellsorprotoplastsisolatedfromPorphyrathallusbyenzymecoulddevelopintonormalleafythalliinthesamewayasmonospores,andthatisolatedcellsdevelopindifferentwayinliquidandonsemisolidmedia.Theauthorsobservedtheultrastructureofisolatedvegetativecellsculturedonsemisolidmediaandparedthemwiththoseofmonosporesandisolatedcellsculturedinliquidmedia.Theresultsshowedthatsubcellularstructureswerequitedifferentamongcellsindifferentconditions.Intheirdevelopment,isolatedcellsonsemisolidmediadidnotshowthecharacteristicsubcellularfeatureofmonosporeformation,suchasproductionoffibrousvesicles.Calluslikecellsformedonsemisolidmediaunderwentadistinctivemodificationincellularorganization.Theydevelopedcharacteristiccellinclusionsandaspecial2layercellcovering.Golgibodies,ER,starchgrains,mitochondria.Vacuoleswerenotmonlyfoundinthem.
